I totally went into the dictionary because I thought I was going to start this post off with the definition of “tribe” – then I looked at it, and really thought it didn’t come close to encapsulating what Tribe means to me.

While yes, tribe means a group of like minded people, there’s something about being part of the RIGHT TRIBE that cuts a lot deeper. Your Tribe is full of people who love you, respect you, push you to be your best, and will always be there when you need them.

Your Tribe know things about you that maybe you don’t know about yourself. Through long term observation and interaction, they can sense your next move, anticipate your reaction to something, or simply “feel” when you’re not at your best.

The energy from your Tribe is one you carry throughout your day. In the workout realm, the Tribe is much deeper than the people who show up to the same class as you…the Tribe brings the energy to the workout that follows you for the rest of your day. The workout does not actually give the Tribe energy, but is simply the space in which the energy is transferred.

The Tribe is diverse because we as humans are diverse. Tribes are not identified simply because its members look or dress the same, but rather through the respect and encouragement they bring to every member of the Tribe. Sometimes we “see” Tribes of people who look and dress the same, but that doesn’t make them stronger than the Tribes who place individual expression above the group. These are the best Tribes because they respect the individual while recognizing the power of the collective.

If you have found a Tribe, you know these feelings to be true. You understand what this deeper meaning looks and feels like. But you’re seeking this feeling, find your Tribe…find your group that respects you as an individual and collectively embraces the successes, imperfections, and struggles of each individual in the collective.

Find the right Tribe and you’d be amazed at what you’re capable of.
