So, Alaris took flight on January 3rd, and what a terrific day it was! More than 50 people – 50 PEOPLE! – came out to either workout, cheerlead, show support, or walk in to learn more. It was absolutely fantastic, and I will never be able to fully describe what I was feeling at the end of the day.
Alaris took flight – then hit a little turbulence…
The next morning, I received a phone call from the woman I was subleasing from to inform me that her landlord terminated Alaris’ lease. While the reason WHY our lease was terminated seemed like it came from a game of “telephone” (they were upset that my sign was up instead of hers?? Whaaaa? Who knows), the bottom line was that we spent Sunday moving all of our equipment out, emailing clients to let them know what happened, and suddenly needing to figure out what was next.
While this seems pretty crappy, we’re really excited to find THE BEST facility for this program, and a better landlord. Everything happens for a reason – and while the reason for this is unclear at this point, what I do know is that we’ve looked at a handful of spaces already, and the landlords we’ve talked to are excited about what makes Alaris different – that we’re focused on small classes, lifting people up, and have a 360 approach to health and fitness, and that we’re not just some “robo” or “bro gym” looking for a place to play loud music, throw big weights all over, and grunt loudly.
So, I’m going to take pride in what we’re doing here and find the perfect space to do it in. But just because we don’t have walls doesn’t mean we can’t workout! Stay tuned, as we’re acquiring permits to host Alaris outside until we get into a space.
Smiles and high fives!
I’d say that the way you’re handling this setback, with reflection and optimism, is indicative of exactly the style of support you will give your clients. You are one classy lady. Good thoughts KK.
